Joe Maddon and Theo Epstein Are Reportedly Meeting After Saturday Night's Game
By Parker White
The thought coming out of Chi-town is that Cubs manager Joe Maddon is on his way out. After a couple of underachieving seasons by their standards, you can understand why the organization and fanbase want some sort of change.
We'll have more of an answer tonight or tomorrow, as Maddon is reportedly meeting with Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein on Saturday night after their game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
I would imagine that no matter what's discussed and the final resolution of that conversation, Maddon will finish the 2019 season. It would be pretty odd for Epstein to fire his manager the day before the season ends.
When you think of it, could this actually mean Maddon is going to be retained? He appears to be very cool, calm and collected about the whole thing.
Honestly who knows at this point.
In all likelihood, this is a goodbye meeting and they'll keep it short and professional. If this is the end for Maddon in Chicago, he won't be without a team for very long, as he'll be the most sought after managerial candidate this offseason.
