Joe Maddon is a Lunatic for Wanting the MLB to Implement Technology to Police Check Swings
By Michael Luciano

Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon is a great baseball mind, but he's becoming just as well known for complaining in recent weeks.
After a very public spat with Washington Nationals closer Sean Doolittle that ultimately ended in defeat, Maddon is now jumping on the robot umps bandwagon with some outlandish requirements, including wanting technology to review check swings.

We're not even close to robot umps yet, Joe. Now you want all kinds of experimentation?
Something tells me this is only cropping up because the Cubs are losing games because of this. If this happened to the Cardinals, you wouldn't hear a peep.
For all his tremendous baseball acumen and creativity, Maddon has started to garner a reputation as both a crotchety old man and someone who keeps trying to reinvent the wheel and prove how smart of a guy he is.

Look, Joe, I get why you're mad. Umpires aren't always perfect, and sometimes your team gets screwed. It happens. Your team isn't the only one. But as we've seen with instant replay, implementing more technological measures isn't going to help much.
