Joe Maddon's Whiny Comments About Pirates Pitchers Make the Cubs Look Fragile

A losing streak can really screw up a clubhouse. After dropping three out of four and slipping to an unsavory 46-42 record, Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon has officially lost it, going nuclear on umpires and Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle. Maddon claimed that Pirates pitchers were repeatedly throwing up and in, especially against Javier Baez.

Maddon's latest comments did little to put the issue to bed, instead looking petty and small.

"I mean, pent-up frustration is one thing, but when your guys keep getting thrown at their head that's another thing too," Maddon said afterward. "It's an industry-wide concept that we know that they are into and I have it from really good sources."

Let. It. Go! Pirates pitcher Jordan Lyles, who was on the mound when Maddon lost his mind, likes to throw his fastball high and inside. Rather than just put this encounter in the past, Maddon is trying in vain to get the Pirates punished for something that you can't even be punished for.

The best way for the Cubs to get back on track is to put this all behind them, not hold on to it for no reason.
