VIDEO: Joe Torre Provides Inspiring Words of Encouragement for New Yorkers Amid COVID-19

Joe Torre became a legend in the city of New York by leading the Yankees to four World Series championships between 1996 and 2000. He also spent time as both a player and manager with the New York Mets organization. As a native of Brooklyn, he has been associated with the city his whole life. That gives him special knowledge of the people and communities of the city, and he shared his thoughts this week with YES host Jack Curry about how the ongoing coronavirus shutdown might just bring the best out of us.

Torre points out how New Yorkers may be too busy to focus on much during a normal work day, but are always ready to band together during a time of need such this one. He urges everyone to be patient and be vigilant in helping one another other and keeping fellow citizens safe from the spread of the virus.
Joe Torre is a 4-time champion as Yankee manager and he is also a Hall of Famer. But, more than anything, he’s a New Yorker. When Torre talks about the strength and toughness of New Yorkers during times like these, it’s worth a listen. https://t.co/NUezviwZmf

Torre explains how this virus is so different from other crises seen in the city. The goal now is to avoid gathering together, but that doesn't mean our ability to care for our families, friends, and neighbors must be put on hold. The former Yankee skipper believes his fellow citizens are caring and smart enough to do the right thing to help take on this virus.
That's the kind of message we can all use right about now.
