John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman Aren't Ready to Retire From Yankees' Radio Booth
By Parker White
John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman have been in the New York Yankees' radio booth for quite some time, but neither have plans on leaving anytime soon.
Sterling and Waldman went on the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast where both were asked about their immediate future in the booth. Both said the plan was for them to stick around, with Sterling making it very clear neither were leaving.
“I will tell you this: We have no plans to retire,” Sterling said. “We have plans to do this for a long time.”
Sterling is coming off a legendary streak, calling 5,060 straight Yankee games from the radio booth. However, it ended in July after he took a four-game break because he was "feeling under the weather."
So, as long as Sterling (age 81) and Waldman (age 72) are in good health, they want to continue being the voices of the Yankees. The Yankees radio networks don't appear to be escorting either out the door, so a change doesn't seem to be on the horizon.
