John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman Confirm They're Returning to Yankees Radio Booth for 2020
By Scott Rogust
After an active MLB offseason, the New York Yankees enter the 2020 campaign as World Series favorites. And two familiar voices will cover that journey.
To the surprise of no one, longtime radio commentators John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman will return to the Yankees booth this season, per WFAN senior vice president Mark Chernoff.
It'd just be weird to hear different voices in the booth to cover a much-anticipated season.
Just last season, Sterling took a break during the Yankees' July series against the Tampa Bay Rays, which effectively ended his impressive games-called streak at 5,060, dating all the way back to 1989. In that span, Sterling has called five World Series championships and seven American League pennant-clinching wins.
Prior to ending the streak, Sterling mentioned he'd cut back his workload in the 2020 season.
As for Waldman, she's been with the Yankees organization since 2005, and etched a permanent spot in the booth alongside the longtime play-by-play man.
Not hearing Sterling's outlandish home run calls is something no one could ever get used to. Luckily for Yankees fans around the world, they get to hear the dynamic duo for a season filled with hype and lofty expectations.
