Johnny Manziel Takes Shot at XFL and Announces He's Still Making Football Comeback
Johnny Manziel went from being a superstar in college to becoming one of the biggest busts in recent NFL history.
He has since played in the CFL and the now-defunct AAF, but doesn't seem interested in taking part in the XFL. Manziel took to Twitter and announced that his football comeback is still ongoing, while also taking a shot at the reboot league set to kick off this weekend.
Manziel seems to think the XFL will suffer a similar fate to that of the AAF, despite Vince McMahon vowing to fund the league for three seasons.
The AAF is gone, Manziel is banned from the CFL, and he is staying away from the XFL. That means his comeback would have to be in the NFL and that sure is a lofty goal for a guy who has been out of the league since 2015.
The former Browns QB also called out commissioner Oliver Luck, father of Andrew Luck, who claimed Manziel wasn't good enough to compete in the XFL, despite the allure he would bring to the league.
Manziel has always been a talker and speaking out against the XFL only ensures that the league will not be offering him a job. And if he can't get an XFL tryout, he'll be hard pressed to find an NFL team interested in giving him a second look.
Still, he has never lacked confidence and seems to believe in himself, for whatever that is worth.
