Jon Gruden Disses Raiders Offense When Praising Bears Defense
By Scott Rogust
The Oakland Raiders and Chicago Bears are traveling to London in Week 5 in what is being called "The Khalil Mack Revenge Game." Over a year ago, Mack held out of Raiders training camp for a new contract, and Oakland responded by trading him to Chicago. So far, the Bears won the trade easily, as Mack is the centerpiece of a downright dominant defense.
Raiders head coach Jon Gruden knows this, and he told the media in London on Wednesday that Oakland's offense will need five downs against the Monsters of the Midway 2.0.
Not exactly a glowing endorsement of the Raiders offense.
Even with the absence of Vic Fangio, the Bears defense is thriving under new coordinator Chuck Pagano. Through four games this season, the Bears have allowed just 290.8 total yards per game (fifth in NFL) while recording 17 sacks, four interceptions, and forcing two fumbles.
As for Oakland's offense, they rank 21st in total offense (335.8 yards per game), as their receiving corps was hurt by Antonio Brown's self-inflicted release. Yet, Oakland's offensive line has allowed just eight sacks on the year (tied 10th-least in the league), but that can change after the return of "the Mack."
The Bears have solidified themselves as arguably one of the best defense in recent memory, and Gruden knows that Mack will be out for revenge in London.
