Jonathan Lucroy Claims A's Told MLB About Astros' Sign-Stealing 2 Years Ago But League 'Did Nothing'
By Karl Rasmussen

Boston's newest acquisition has only just arrived, but he's already making headlines in regards to the Astros' sign-stealing scandal.
Jonathan Lucroy, who just recently signed with the Sox, claims that former Astro Mike Fiers told him about the team's cheating two years ago when they were teammates on the Oakland Athletics.
According to Lucroy, the A's contacted the MLB regarding the then-alleged cheating, but the league did nothing about it.
Lucroy says Fiers told him of Astros scheme two years ago. Said A’s called MLB and league did nothing. When he saw Athletic report in November, thought “Oh boy.”

Fiers, who was the first person to come forth and effectively blow the lid off the Astros' sign-stealing antics, was traded to Oakland from Detroit at the deadline in 2018. Prior to that he had spent more than two seasons in Houston, including the World Series-winning 2017 campaign.
It seems he leaked some of the Astros' tactics to his teammates in Oakland upon arriving.

“They had a very intricate system going on. We were well aware of it.”
By the time the bombshell article from The Athletic came out in November, Lucroy claims to have not been surprised.
"I knew about that stuff two years ago. I'm glad it came out. It was getting out of hand," said Lucroy.
The most recent comments from the veteran catcher effectively confirm the notion that at least some players within the league were privy to what was going on behind the scenes in Houston, and that the league was tipped off far before it began its investigation.
