VIDEO: Jordan Montgomery Gets Revenge on Miguel Cabrera With Nasty Whiff
By Brendan Balsamo

To put it lightly, New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole had a rough outing on Thursday. In two innings, he sacrificed six runs on four home runs to the Detroit Tigers, including two alone to future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera. In an act of retribution later in the game, Cole's teammate Jordan Montgomery struck Cabrera out on a nasty back foot breaking ball.

Montgomery looks to be coming back strong in 2020, after making only two starts in 2019 and six in 2018. In 2017, Montgomery finished the year on the IL but had a 3.88 ERA, good enough to put him at sixth in the AL Rookie of the Year race.
Jordan Montgomery is sitting 93-95 MPH with sink along with a filthy changeup and curveball. If the velocity is legitimate you might be looking at something more than a back end starter. #Yankees

With an uptick in velocity along with his lanky frame that can be deceptive to hitters, Montgomery's 2020 could be a season the Yankees' depleted pitching staff desperately needs.
