Jose Altuve's Postseason On-Base Streak Just Surpassed Lou Gehrig on All-Time List
By Sean Facey

Jose Altuve has long been recognized as one of the best hitters in the game of baseball. The small-but-mighty second baseman has a knack for finding a way to get on base at all costs, especially in the postseason.
In fact, he's so good at it that he's establishing his name among some of the greatest players of all time. With his first-inning single off of Patrick Corbin in Saturday's World Series Game 4, the Houston Astros star extended his postseason on-base streak to 24 games, passing Hall of Famer and New York Yankees legend Lou Gherig on the all-time list.

That's some pretty amazing company.
He now stands alone in third place all-time, and he even will have a chance to at least tie Orioles slugger Boog Powell at 25 when the Astros square off against the Nationals in Game 5.

Looking at the names that surround him outside of Gehrig is simply awe-inspiring. He's ahead of guys like Derek Jeter and Rickey Henderson, both of whom were excellent hitters who never failed to take it to another level in the playoffs.
When you're a prolific world-beater like Altuve, it just comes with the territory.

He's come up in the clutch time and time again for the Astros over the past few years. After he got called up back in 2011, it wasn't too long before he was the face of the franchise.
If one thing's for certain, it's that Altuve is just the guy the Astros want in the lineup, especially in the World Series.
