Jose Reyes Tweets Excited Reaction Moments After Mets Fire Mickey Callaway
By Parker White
The big news from Queens on Thursday is the New York Mets firing manager Mickey Callaway.
It wasn't a shock, especially since GM Brodie Van Wagenen didn't hire him and they missed the postseason entirely, but we're still forced to reckon with the new reality.
You can bet frustrated Mets fans are excited about who could be hired next, and a former player is pretty pumped as well. Check out Jose Reyes' tweet, launched almost immediately following the news.
Hold a grudge, much?
Reyes, 36, was not signed this offseason after three subpar seasons with the Mets from 2016-2018. Based off this reaction, I guess it's Callaway's fault he hit under .200 over 228 at-bats in 2018.
Of course, Reyes' domestic violence incident involving his wife back in 2016 was likely more responsible for the end of his career, as well as the erosion of his skills. It's clear, though, that he had no interest in hiding his pleasure, whether it were about Callaway's ouster, or stunningly regarding another topic.
