VIDEO: Notorious Beanball Artist Jose Ureña Drills Astros' Aledmys Diaz With 97 MPH Fastball
By Michael Luciano
It's hard to feel much sympathy for the Houston Astros right now, but Miami Marlins starter Jose Ureña's latest act of violence on the mound will make you feel sorry for shortstop Aledmys Diaz. Ureña, one of the most reckless beanball artists in the league, plunked Diaz with a 97 MPH fastball in the Marlins-Astros spring training game.
If this is intentional, someone should probably tell Ureña that Diaz was only on the team in 2019, and he wasn't even a starter last season. Plunking opposing hitters is normally a dumb way to retaliate, as it puts a man on first base anyway, and this makes Ureña look less like a hero of the people getting revenge on the Astros and more like a temperamental hothead.
