Josh Donaldson Discusses Leaving Braves for Twins in Free Agency
By Jack Murphy

Josh Donaldson took a gamble on himself signing a one-year, $23 million deal prior to the 2019 season with the Atlanta Braves. After proving his doubters wrong, the Bringer of Rain showed that he still has a lot of gas left in the tank and earned himself a four-year, $92 million contract with the Minnesota Twins this offseason.
Donaldson was fortunate for the time he spent with Atlanta, but is now focused on what lies ahead in his MLB career as he discussed his big decision.
Donaldson will always be grateful for the one year he shared with the Braves, who opted to not increase the offer they made in late December https://t.co/1NEeSWVTM7

"I had to make sure i was doing what was right for me and my family," Donaldson said.
The 34-year-old third baseman was a little surprised the Braves were not very aggressive in their pursuit of him. The club preferred to resist his immediate impact and not spend big in one area. But there's no bad blood -- he reunited with his teammates on Wednesday.

Donaldson had an incredible season in 2019, slashing .259/.379/.521 with 37 homers and 94 RBIs while providing gold glove-caliber defense at the hot corner. He helped the Braves win the NL East and come within one win of an NLCS berth.
Since 2013 among players currently in the AL, Josh Donaldson ranks:

Now Donaldson will be taking his talents and paycheck to the Twin Cities to bolster an already loaded Minnesota Twins lineup.
