Josh Donaldson Named Sporting News NL Comeback Player of the Year
By Evan Wolff

In a season full of tight award races across the league, this one seemed like a no-brainer.
A year after struggling with injuries, which seemingly put his career in jeopardy, Josh Donaldson proved his worth once again this season. His fantastic 2019 campaign for Atlanta, in which he hit 37 home runs and drove in 94 runs, has been rewarded with the Sporting News NL Comeback Player of the Year award.

The @Braves third baseman bounced back from last year's injuries and put together a career season in 2019.https://t.co/zyAJCE5U1l
The 2015 MVP certainly had a point to prove, especially after a 2018 season in which he only played 52 games. The 33-year-old proved his worth for Brian Snitker and the Braves, proving he can provide worthy veteran leadership, Gold Glove-caliber defense, and a productive middle-of-the-order bat.
With the slugger becoming a free agent this offseason, he'll certainly be on the radar for many teams in need of a slugging third baseman. However, it appears the Braves may not let it get that far.
