Josh Gordon's Reinstatement Provides an Answer to Patriots' Most Glaring Need
By Karl Rasmussen
If there was anything the New England Patriots were lacking heading into the 2019 season, it was talent at wide receiver behind Julian Edelman.
Well, the Patriots just got some outstanding news, as star wideout Josh Gordon has been reinstated by the NFL, providing another weapon for Tom Brady, further improving the team's already deadly roster.
Josh Gordon Contract
And what's better is the contract which Gordon is playing on. As always, the Patriots have a potential star on their hands, at a bargain price. The 28-year-old will earn $2.025 million this season.
Considering his numbers from the 11 games he played with the Pats last season, Bill Belichick and Co. should be grinning from ear to ear.
Josh Gordon 2018 Stats
In 11 games with the Patriots, Flash caught 40 passes for 720 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also caught a touchdown pass in Cleveland, his lone reception with the team before the trade to New England.
Prior to Gordon walking away from the game and his subsequent suspension last season, he seemed to be developing a strong rapport with Brady. Expect more of the same this year, and perhaps the two will be even further improved.
Gordon was working out with Brady this summer at the TB12 facility, so perhaps they'll be in sync from the get go.
Gordon's return will likely slot him ahead of Philip Dorsett on the depth chart, so expect to see him lining up opposite Edelman from Week 1, when he's first eligible to play.
Things are looking great for the Patriots, and the season hasn't even started yet. Now we just have to see how Gordon looks on the gridiron after another lengthy absence from the game.
