Josh McCown Will Still Coach Charlotte High School Team While Playing With Eagles
By Jerry Trotta
As we know, veteran quarterback Josh McCown signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles earlier in the month to help the franchise with their depleted QB dilemma behind starter Carson Wentz.
While the longtime journeyman is fully committed to that role, he will continue to coach Meyers Park High School football team, which was an additional aspect of the contract he signed with the organization that helped persuade him to return to the NFL.
McCown will fly to Charlotte on Friday to coach Meyers Park that night and, upon the game's conclusion, will fly back to the City of Brotherly Love to rejoin his teammates to prep for Sunday.
The driving factor that impelled the 40-year-old gunslinger to come out of retirement was, in fact, the restricted distance between Philly and Charlotte.
"The proximity to Charlotte was a factor, and part of why it made sense to sign here," McCown said of his decision to end his retirement earlier this month.
When you consider the fact that he's played for nine teams across his 16-year career, we presume that McCown will balance coaching on Fridays and donning the clipboard on Sundays just fine.
