Josh Norman Claims He’s Still an Elite DB After Redskins’ Loss to Eagles

The mega contract offered to Josh Norman has not yielded the desired results for the Washington Redskins. Ever since signing the five-year, $75 million contract in 2016, Norman has regressed, culminating in his benching back in November.

After the team's latest loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Norman was asked by a reporter if he still believed he was an elite defensive back, and his reply was nothing short of confident.

“I don't believe anything. I am,” Norman said, via the Washington Post. “When you are something, you don't believe it; you go out and do it. Sucks that I can't prove it right now.”

Norman certainly believes himself, but the Redskins don't.

The corner has been relegated to the bench, mostly contributing on special teams plays (with less than desirable effort). Norman was pressed into Washington's Week 15 game against the Eagles, and was in coverage on the go-ahead touchdown reception to receiver Greg Ward.

While Norman still thinks he can play at an elite level, that's not the consensus around the league. It looks like the Redskins are bound to move on from Norman with one-year remaining on his current deal.
