Josh Reddick Says Crashing Into 'Brick Wall' Pete Alonso Contributed to Needing Shoulder Surgery
By Sam Dunn

At Spring Training one year ago, Josh Reddick learned firsthand that even rookies can bring the pain. Racing to first base on a bunt attempt against the New York Mets, the Astros outfielder came up close and personal with the Polar Bear himself, Pete Alonso, and suddenly found himself flat on his back.
While he was eventually able to piece himself back together, he noted that he did undergo shoulder surgery during the current offseason -- and that crashing into that "brick wall" of an NL Rookie of the Year had something to do with it.
Josh Reddick had shoulder surgery in the offseason and thinks it may have happened last spring in a collision he had on the field.

“If I had to look back at one spot, it probably happened here in Spring Training and running into that brick wall, Pete Alonso," he said.
It was a bit of a scary moment when it all went down, as Reddick was forced to the ground at super-speed by the sheer force of the impact with such a gigantic man, and was down on the deck for a lot longer than any Astros fan would have wanted.
Fortunately, that shoulder of his has finally gotten some needed attention. Just be careful the next time you're frolicking near brick walls, Josh. They're just as unforgiving as you remember.
