Former USC QB JT Daniels Announces He's Transferring to Georgia
By Michael Luciano
Most expected former 5-star recruit and USC quarterback JT Daniels to stay on the west coast, but he bucked the projections by heading across the country to link up with Kirby Smart.
Daniels announced that he will transfer to Georgia, which comes a shock given how the Bulldogs just landed former Wake Forest QB and potential pro prospect Jamie Newman via transfer earlier this spring.
Daniels completed 59% of his passes while throwing for 2,672 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions as a freshman at USC. His ACL injury prompted Kedon Slovis to take over the starting job and outperform him on nearly every level.
Nonetheless, the gunslinger will try to become eligible in 2020 with an injury waiver, but he likely won't see the field much next year if he gets his way. Newman is the team's starter, and he will have to compete with prized recruits Dwan Mathis and Carson Beck for the backup job.
Daniels will likely have to wait a year before becoming the starter due to the presence of Newman, but he'll keep the Bulldogs competitive next year and beyond due to his natural accuracy and arm talent.
