JuJu Smith-Schuster Cleared to Return From Concussion Protocol
By Michael Luciano
In between Fortnite sessions and Pizza Hut commercials, JuJu Smith-Schuster occasionally moonlights as a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
JuJu, who missed last week's win over the Cincinnati Bengals, was recently cleared by an independent neurologist to return to action after sustaining a concussion in Pittsburgh's loss against the Cleveland Browns.
The wideout remained on Pittsburgh's injury report and out of practice Wednesday, however, as he's still combatting a knee injury.
Smith-Schuster's play has declined sharply this season, as facing off against more No. 1 corners coupled with Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges throwing him the ball has taken a bite out of his effectiveness. JuJu has just 38 catches for 524 yards and three touchdowns, a steep decline from his 111-catch, 1,426-yard season in 2018.
His play might be on the decline, but Smith-Schuster is the most electric skill position player the Steelers have, and they need No. 19 on the field for another game against a Browns team that is out for blood after an ugly brawl in their last meeting.
Hodges needs a sure pair of hands if he is to be successful, and there aren't many wideouts in the league more reliable than JuJu. He is a must for the re-match against Cleveland.
