Julio Urias Reportedly Expected to Be Reinstated Tuesday After Domestic Battery Arrest
By Brendan Azoff
After being arrested last week for domestic battery in an incident where he allegedly shoved a woman in a parking lot, Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias appears to be getting reinstated on Tuesday from administrative leave.
The investigation remains open on the pitcher's alleged domestic battery, and his reinstatement brings us once again to the cloudy part of sports where we wait to see if the league and the legal system are on the same page.
Addison Russell is the latest example of an MLB player being reinstated after he was suspended 40 games by the MLB for domestic violence. Of course, Russell's situation was more clear cut and the league had time to investigate the incident themselves in the aftermath. But for Urias, his case is still up in the air.
If the Dodgers are reinstating Urias that means they believe it is safe to do so for now, but if the pitcher's case takes a turn for the worse you can expect to see the MLB step in.
We cannot stress enough that Urias' pending reinstatement does not mean he is in the clear. It's merely administrative paperwork for the Dodgers as they wait for more direction.
