Justin Herbert out for the season with index finger injury

A season that felt like it was going to have so much promise is now ending in a nightmare for the Los Angeles Chargers. In the loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday, quarterback Justin Herbert suffered a nasty-looking finger injury.
Fans hoped it wasn't serious, but he had to head back to the locker room. Now it's been announced that not only will Herbert need to undergo surgery, but his season has also come to a close as well. This is brutal for LA and head coach Brandon Staley.
#Chargers QB Justin Herbert is out for the season following surgery to repair the broken index finger on his right hand, per me and @MikeGarafolo. Easton Stick steps in for the rest of 2023.

With Herbert now out for the rest of the year, the offense is now being handed to Easton Stick. The Chargers are 5-8 on the campaign and without Herbert, the rest of the season feels like it's going to be rough. It's been a terrible year in terms of season-ending injuries for QBs. We can now add Herbert to the list.
