VIDEO: Justin Herbert Might've Provided Hint at Which Team is Most Interested in Him
By Jerry Trotta
The 2020 NFL Draft is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable in recent memory. Outside of the No. 1 overall pick (and perhaps Washington's two slot), it's anyone's guess as to how the rest of the first round will play out. Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert is projected to be selected in the top 10, with the Los Angeles Chargers and Miami Dolphins as the favorites to land him. However, in an interview with ESPN analyst Pat McAfee, the 22-year-old almost revealed that a third squad is showing legitimate interest in him: the Detroit Lions.
It's pretty apparent that Herbert wanted to say "Lions," but thought better of it and insisted on stating the Chargers and Dolphins. Did the former Ducks star almost spill the beans on Detroit's secret?
He might have, and boy, is that massively confidential information. With the No. 3 overall pick, it's long been rumored that the Lions will draft either a star defensive player or trade back a few spots with a QB-needy franchise.
Detroit changing course to nab Herbert at No. 3 would discombobulate the entire Draft. Based on the young gunslinger's near-slip, that's shaping up to be a real possibility. Buckle in, folks. We could be in for a slew of surprises on Thursday night.
