Justin Herbert's Gritty Rose Bowl Performance Should Improve His NFL Draft Stock
By Michael Luciano
The final game of Justin Herbert's career was one that will be remembered in Eugene forever. Herbert dazzled both Ducks fans and NFL scouts alike when he accounted for three total touchdowns in a comeback win over Jonathan Taylor and Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.
The future NFL quarterback was handed a bunch of lemons in this game, but he was still able to make lemonade running the ball.
Herbert isn't necessarily known for his rushing ability, as offensive coordinator and future UNLV coach Marcus Arroyo wanted to keep him anchored in the pocket over the course of the season.
Herbert threw for 32 touchdown passes this year, but only had one rushing touchdown in the entire season, and Arroyo waited until the last game of the year to unleash him.
Under the bright lights of Pasadena, he took on one of the best defenses in the country on a day when literally no one else on the offense was playing well, Herbert essentially willed the Ducks to victory.
He's all but a first round lock after this signature win.
It wasn't the best day throwing the ball, but scouts already knew Herbert had a hose for an arm. We needed to see him use his legs more and come through in the clutch. He did both in a Rose Bowl win against Wisconsin, in what was an inspiring final performance in a Ducks uniform for No. 10.
