Justin Jefferson Falls to Vikings in Huge Turn of Events for Minnesota
By Michael Luciano
The Minnesota Vikings need playmaking wide receivers that can help Kirk Cousins get the ball out of his hands quickly, and general manager Rick Spielman had the perfect receiver fall to him in LSU's Justin Jefferson.
The former Tigers star was selected by the Vikings with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Jefferson broke out under Joe Brady last year, hauling in 111 passes for 1,540 yards while serving as Joe Burrow's preferred safety blanket underneath.
Some have concerns about his long speed and physicality, but Jefferson should be the No. 2 receiver in Minnesota right out of the gate. There's no way they could have expected Jefferson would be available at pick No. 22, so this is a big win for Minny.
Jefferson is similar to Stefon Diggs in that both of them are great at separating at the line of scrimmage and making plays as a runner. With Jefferson and Adam Thielen lining up alongside one another, the Vikings should once again have a great receiving corps to assist Cousins and hopefully get the team back to the playoffs.
