Justin Verlander's Brother Bothers Jon Heyman With Perfect MLB Draft Spoonerism
The MLB Draft took place earlier this month, and that means some young players are getting ready to sign their new deals for some hefty bonuses.
That was the case for No. 9 overall pick Zac Veen, who was just signed by the Colorado Rockies. MLB writer Jon Heyman shared the news and a zinger was thrown into his replies by someone with the last name of Verlander -- just not the one you'd think.
Ben Verlander spent several years in the Detroit Tigers organization and rose up to Single-A. He is now apparently the funny one in the family, and Heyman saw the humor and shared the tweet himself.
Justin got the baseball skills and Ben has the personality. Humor is always nice during tough times, and Verlander's pun certainly isn't wrong.
Yet if you asked Veen, he would probably say this isn't the first time he has heard the joke about his name.
