It goes without saying that Major League Baseball and its owners have lost the interest of countless fans in light of the nonsensical negotiations with players over the terms of the 2020 season. Both sides have gotten nowhere after months of squabbling, and it's looking increasingly likely that commissioner Rob Manfred will need to step in and implement his own problematic blueprint in order for any baseball to be played this year. As a result of these awful optics, ESPN host Karl Ravech -- smack in the middle of the network's coverage of the 2020 Draft -- felt it was necessary to take the league to the woodshed.

Ravech hit the nail right on the head here, and, considering ESPN's direct ties to the league (the draft was simulcast on MLB Network), he deserves massive credit for choosing to use his platform to echo the grievances of thousands of fans that are starving for baseball.

The longtime ESPN voice is clearly fed up with Manfred's evident lack of leadership and consensus-building throughout the negotiation process, and he didn't hesitate to put the commish on the spot during an interview moments before his previous harangue. As expected, Manfred's response left a lot be desired.

You can literally see the disgust in Ravech's face when Manfred went political instead of providing viewers with a legitimate insight into the negotiations. This is precisely why so many fans consider the commish unfit for the job. Kudos to Ravech for asking the tough questions. He, and all baseball fans, deserve so much better.
