Kawhi Leonard Reportedly May Not Make Free Agency Decision For Next Few Days
By Scott Rogust
For those of you NBA fans hoping for Kawhi Leonard to make a decision on the Fourth of July, we're here to tell you not to hold your breath.
According to Jabari Young of The Athletic, Leonard is not expected to make a free agency decision until the next few days. The star forward and his representatives are looking over the options and will take their time before deciding on which team he will commit to.
Young shut down claims made by ESPN's Jalen Rose, who said he was "99 percent certain" Leonard would sign a two-year deal with the Toronto Raptors. Instead, Young reports that no two-year offers were even on the table.
The Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers are the three teams involved in the Leonard lottery. After meeting with both Los Angeles teams, Leonard flew to Toronto on Wednesday to meet with Raptors brass. The meeting was spotlighted by local news helicopters following Leonard's SUV from Toronto Pearson Airport.
Rumors have spread ever since the opening of the free agency window of which team holds the edge of signing the reigning NBA Finals MVP. However, Leonard's camp is keeping everything tight-lipped and stressed to prospective teams that they would like to keep it that way.
On that note, enjoy your holiday weekend, as "Kawhi Watch" is set to continue with no confirmed end in sight.
