When any professional athlete retires, it's common for them to put on a few pounds due to their change of schedule. They go from a very rigorous routine of heavily competitive practices and high-intensity games to a much more relaxed lifestyle. Former NBA center Kendrick Perkins revealed on Saturday that he's tacked on 75 pounds since retiring in 2017, but is now motivated to get back in shape.
Perkins looks noticeably bigger than he did during his playing days, and after a visit with the doctor, he learned he was dangerously close to becoming a diabetic. This was a wake-up call for Perk, and he's responding by hitting the gym in order to shed the additional weight.
The former center is getting a lot of people's support for his new journey, including the king himself LeBron James.
While weight loss is a long and difficult journey, Perkins seems to have the motivation to stay at it. As long as he can keep himself focused on his goals, he will be happy with what he is doing for himself and his family.
