Kendrick Perkins Owns the Nets in His Tweet to Kenny Atkinson After Team Parted Ways With Him
By Sean Facey
The Brooklyn Nets shocked the NBA world on Saturday after it was revealed the team unceremoniously showed head coach Kenny Atkinson the door. In the midst of the confusion though, plenty of fans and players, both current and former, have provided their criticism of the move.
One of those former players was Kendrick Perkins, who hilariously clowned the Nets on his Twitter page.
Who knows, perhaps the former 14-year veteran is right! Maybe Atkinson was fortunate to get out of Brooklyn and he just doesn't know it yet.
There has been plenty of speculation that noted drama divas Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant played a role in Atkinson's surprise departure, and that seems to be what Perkins is alluding to here.
If the two stars truly did coerce the front office to show Atkinson the door, then perhaps it's for the best. Better for him to leave in the middle of a lost season than for Irving and Durant to start up controversy next year and beyond.
Still, it's mind-boggling that the man who molded the Nets into a 42-win team last year after back-to-back seasons with over 50 losses has been shown the door.
He had a crafted a winning culture in Brooklyn. While the Nets look for his replacement, plenty of teams across the league would be wise to consider bringing him in.
