VIDEO: Ashton Hagans-Nick Richards Interaction Amid Kentucky's Meltdown vs Tennessee Looked Hostile
The Kentucky Wildcats completely unraveled in the second half of Tuesday night's game against the Tennessee Volunteers, blowing a 17-point lead and losing by eight. The entire team faltered and some frustration was shown on the court by Ashton Hagans towards teammate Nick Richards.
Hagans can be seen saying "throw me the ball" repeated as he refused to listen to whatever Richards was saying. This doesn't look great for team chemistry ahead of the postseason.
Hagans went 4-of-10 from the field and missed both three-point attempts he took. Richards was 2-of-5 from the floor and outscored his teammate 12-11. If anyone should be asking for the ball, it should be either Immanuel Quickley or Tyrese Maxey, Kentucky's two leading scorers.
The entire Wildcats team should be frustrated after such a bad loss. That should mean Hagans is given a bit of a pass for the way he acted considering his team choked away an easy win. However, Hagans and his teammates cannot afford another meltdown. That will result in an early exit in the NCAA Tournament for a team with championship aspirations. Coach Cal needs to get these guys back on track.
