Kentucky Star Ashton Hagans Officially Declares for 2020 NBA Draft

With the remained of the college basketball season canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the game's biggest stars don't have to wait to declare for the NBA Draft. With that in mind, we can now add another big name to the list.
On Sunday afternoon, Kentucky Wildcats sophomore guard Ashton Hagans declared his intentions to move on to the NBA. On his official Twitter account, he took an opportunity to thank Big Blue Nation for their support during his time in Lexington.
"I just wanted to let you all know that even though I love Kentucky with all of my heart and really wish I could have played for the 'ship, it's time for me to live out my life-long dream declare for the NBA Draft," writes Hagans. "It's been my No. 1 goal since I first picked up a ball to take this step and I know my time is now. It's so hard for me to say goodbye to the best fans in the world, because these last two years have been some of the best of my life."
Hagans played the role of point guard to great effect during his two seasons at UK. While he didn't put up a ton of points, he made up for it with his defensive abilities.
He tallied 629 points, 351 assists, and 119 steals during his two campaigns in Lexington. Hagans was named 2019 SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year in his freshman year while also being named to the SEC All-Defensive Team this past season.
With his sights set on playing in the NBA, Hagans is now off on a new adventure. For John Calipari and Co., the task turns to finding out how to replace such an impact player.
