Kerryon Johnson Has Hilarious Response to Eagles Loading the Box Against Lions
By Jerry Trotta
It was largely surmised that Kerryon Johnson's overall value and workload was bound to improve after the Detroit Lions surprisingly released veteran tailback CJ Anderson following their Week 2 win over the Chargers.
As it turns out, those inklings were justified as Johnson, really for the first time in his two-year NFL career, assumed the role of a bell-cow RB Sunday against the Eagles, logging 21 touches and seeing the field for 75% of Detroit's offensive snaps.
However, Philadelphia game-planned to shutdown the Auburn product as they lined up an eight-or-more man box on 60% of those snaps. And when the young RB became aware of that stat, he took to Twitter in hilarious fashion to call out the universe's apparent agenda to not let him "prosper."
Kerryon isn't necessarily wrong here, either. He finally broke out of the RB committee he was stuck for his entire rookie season only to have the opposing team zero in on taking him out of the game.
And the Eagles plan worked wonders as the 22-year-old rushed for just 36 yards and 20 carries, good for a woeful 1.8 yards per carry.
Luckily for the sophomore tailback, he faces a much more favorable matchup in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs, who have a swiss cheese run D, allowing an atrocious 137.7 yards per game thus far.
