Kevin Durant 'Brand Ambassador' Randy Williams Blasts Russell Westbrook as a Bad Teammate
By Brian Cass
After Kevin Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder and Russell Westbrook to join the team that knocked them out of the playoffs a year prior, the Golden State Warriors, the relationship between the two superstars became dicey, to say the least.
Rumors swirled about Durant not wanting to play with Russ, and that the latter's ball-dominant style on the court was what ultimately convinced KD to leave town. Although the marriage came to an untimely end, the two seemed to put the beef behind them more recently. But with Westbrook now reportedly on the trade block as Oklahoma City approaches a rebuild, one of Durant's closest friends and "brand ambassadors," Randy Williams, has taken to Instagram to share his unadulterated thoughts on the OKC point guard and 2017 MVP.
Williams is just reiterating what many NBA analysts have been saying for years about Westbrook's game with this post. As he began, "No one wants to play with Russ!" He then continued to criticize nearly every facet of the guy's style.
Ever since Durant left Oklahoma City, Westbrook hasn't exactly helped his case with his play on the court, which features incredibly inefficient shooting and generally questionable defense. Yes, he took home the MVP award the year following Durant's departure and fills up the box score with impressive counting numbers, but fans and pundits have increasingly scoffed at his body of work due to allegations of stat-padding, as well as his inability to carry his team to legitimate playoff success as a No. 1 option.
Nevertheless, it seems a bit odd that Williams has come out of the blue to throw this much shade at Westbrook, especially now that the player's relationship with Durant has been so apparently stable of late.
