Kevin Durant Exposed for Calling Kawhi Leonard 'System Player' in Old Tweet
By Michael Luciano

As the old saying goes, there's a tweet for everything.
Way back in the square profile pic days of 2014, Kevin Durant was still going after random dudes on Twitter, albeit with a bit more civility.
Durant was caught firing off his opinion on then San Antonio Spur Kawhi Leonard, who is currently one win away from taking down Durant's Golden State Warriors in the NBA finals. In Durant's own words, the Toronto Raptors star is a "system player" who wouldn't be able to hold a candle to a transplanted Paul George in silver and black.

Back in 2014, KD thought Kawhi was only a system player.

In defense of Durant, back in 2014, he had two points he could use to argue his case.
First off, there were several Spurs role players who floundered outside of the tutelage of Gregg Popovich. Secondly, Leonard back in those days and Leonard now are two totally different people. 2014 Pre-Finals Kawhi was a defensive stopper and mid-range specialist, while 2019 Kawhi is a complete offensive and defensive threat with a Finals MVP under his belt.

With any other superstar, old tweets like this could have been a major point of emphasis in the lead-up to a Finals game. With Kawhi's robotic personality, however, he's probably not even giving this the time of day.
