Kevin Durant's Favorite Michael Jordan Moment is the Last Thing You'd Expect

When looking back at Michael Jordan's career, there's seemingly an infininity of memorable moments, but Kevin Durant's all-time favorite isn't one that would rank too highly on anyone else's list. The star Brooklyn Nets forward is known for making some controversial decisions, most notably leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors in the summer of 2016, and his latest take on MJ comes similarly out of nowhere.

When Durant appeared on the latest edition of his ESPN streaming show "The Boardroom," he was asked by host Jay Williams what his favorite Jordan moment was. His response? Here's a hint: Washington.

Although Jordan spent 13 decorated seasons with the Chicago Bulls, Durant chose to recognize Jordan's short two-year stint wit the Wizards as his favorite moment. Instead of "the shrug", one of his six NBA titles, or the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest, KD chose an era of Jordan's career that most fans choose to forget.

But as a native of the Washington, DC area, that brief coda with the Wizards is one Durant will always cherish.

Jordan's return to basketball with the Wizards after his second retirement remains one of the strangest decisions in NBA history. Seeing Jordan in any uniform other than that of the Chicago Bulls never truly well with basketball fans at large. It just didn't feel right.

Although a strange pick, it somewhat makes sense when you look at it from Durant's perspective. When Jordan joined the Wizards, Durant was 14 years old and living in DC, dreaming of a life in the Association.

Interestingly, if Jordan could have done it all over again, that run with the Wizards would've never happened. But count KD among those forever glad that it did.
