Kevin Durant's Much-Hyped Free Agency Reveal on Instagram Was Actually Really Lame
By Michael Luciano
At 6 p.m. ET Sunday, the entire basketball world was supposed to be turned upside-down when Kevin Durant announced his destination for the next half-decade. His camp promised a video on the Instagram account of his "Boardroom" show on ESPN+. With Woj taking all the air out of the balloon hours beforehand, however, we were left with a static video that declared KD would sign with the Brooklyn Nets set to a Biggie Smalls song.
That's it? That's the best KD could come up with? He must have known there was a chance the news would leak. Come on, bro.
Something tells me that Durant wanted to get some more followers on social media for his TV show. If that was the case, then this is perhaps a job well done. To be fair, the Instagram account for "The Boardroom" jumped from 34,000 followers to over 200,000 in just a few hours.
This account is certainly one to stay following, especially with Durant and Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn for the next four years (or more!).
Unless you're a Knicks fan. In which case it'll probably be best to avoid anything KD related altogether for the foreseeable future.
