Former Astros Starter Kirk Saarloos Gives Amazing Update on Father's Health Following Accident
By Michael Luciano

Larry Saarloos, the father of former MLB pitcher Kirk Saarloos, suffered a serious, potentially debilitating, injury when he fell off of his horse. Luckily, Saarloos' health has taken a turn for the better of late.
Kirk claims that his father was in great spirits during the family's video chat, as he was able to lift his right hand up and slick back his hair. This is a major improvement from a few days ago, when his mobility was extremely limited.
Update... Dad was showing off on our zoom call tonight!!

He said “watch this” he then took his right hand and brought it up to his hair and slicked it back. The small things are the big things!!

Saarloos pitched for the Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics for the bulk of his career, going 29-30 with a 5.02 ERA as a pro. After retiring, he joined the coaching ranks, as he works as recruiting coordinator and pitching coach for TCU.
While an injury like the one Larry suffered at his advanced age can be extremely problematic, it sounds like his recovery is going better than expected.
Amen! So happy for his progress.

At a very challenging time for the Saarloos family, Larry seems to be recovering nicely from his injury.
