Klay Thompson and Warriors Expected to Reach Agreement on Max Deal by the Start of Free Agency

At least one piece of the Warriors' core seems destined to stay with the team.
Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors are expected to come to terms on a max deal worth $190 million over five years within the next day, according to Shams Charania.

The news comes as NBA free agency is set to begin at 6 p.m. ET on June 30. He was viewed as one of the top players in this year's free agent class, though a return to the Warriors seemed more than likely.
Thompson, of course, suffered a torn ACL in the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors and will likely be out for most of the 2019-20 season while recovering.
He's spent each of his first eight seasons in the NBA with the Dubs, averaging 19.5 points per game on 45.9% shooting, including a 41.9% career mark from beyond the arc.
Sounds like Klay Thompson will be one of the first names off the board come tomorrow afternoon. ? ? https://t.co/atgdZfTkmM pic.twitter.com/tYGVwWQ05M

A five-time All-Star, he's proven to be a vital member of the Warriors' run of dominance over the last few years. And they seem inclined to reward him handsomely for his contributions. Thompson may be kicking himself for not making All-NBA honors, however, as that $190 million could have leapt up into the $220 million range.
Now it seems as though he's prepared to spend the rest of his prime in the Bay, competing for more titles and glory alongside Steph Curry and Draymond Green.
