Knicks Release Pathetic Statement Confirming They Never Offered Richard Jefferson a Contract
By Jerry Trotta

The New York Knicks have endured a miserable start to the 2019 season as they presently sit in the basement of the Eastern Conference with a 4-13 record.
Things somehow became worse over the weekend during their home loss against the crosstown rival Brooklyn Nets when commentator Richard Jefferson claimed that he opted to retire rather than play for the Knicks, who, according to RJ, were the only franchise to offer him a contract prior to last season.
Well, in an effort to avoid a PR nightmare, New York quite literally created one themselves on Monday evening as they embarrassingly released a statement to confirm that they never proposed a contract to RJ.
For clarification purposes, it is not true that the New York Knicks offered Richard Jefferson a contract in either the summer of 2018 or 2019.

We understand trying to protect your brand, but players and pundits have been taking shots at the Knicks for YEARS, since, you know, they haven't mustered a winning campaign since 2012-2013.
Jefferson's claims, though a bit brazen to utter during a live broadcast when he's supposed to refrain from showing bias to one team, shouldn't set off a professional basketball franchise.
Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are the most recent of the countless list of players who have adamantly professed their indifference to calling Madison Square Garden their home court.
"Knicks? No, I'll retire. That's why I retired, they were the one team that offered me a job."

We can't be certain, but this tweet has James Dolan's fingerprints ALL over it.
