Knicks Reportedly Interested in Trading for Timberwolves' Star Karl-Anthony Towns
By Michael Luciano
Once again, nothing is going right for the New York Knicks. David Fizdale was given the boot after a 4-18 start, and the team faces an uphill climb as it pertains to bringing in a superstar.
The recent lack of success in Minnesota could bring about an unexpected windfall for the Knicks, who are keeping tabs on Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns.
Towns, who signed a massive contract extension in Minnesota, is on track for his third consecutive All-Star game after averaging a career-best 26.5 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. He attempts 8.5 3's per game, but is knocking them down at an impressive 42% clip, hitting 3.6 per night.
The Knicks would love the chance to trade for Towns, who was born in Edison, NJ and went to high school in Metuchen, but Ryan Saunders and Minnesota would need a substantial offer to pull the plug on Towns.
Towns would be an amazing grab for the Knicks if they are able to pull this off, but the capital they have in both tangible players and draft picks might not be enough to woo Minnesota to part with one of the best big men in the game.
Steve Mills and Scott Perry don't have the best history with star big men, anyway.
