VIDEO: Kobe Bryant Honored in 'In Memoriam' Montage at 2020 Oscars
By Adam Weinrib

We all knew this was coming, but that didn't make witnessing this strange juxtaposition any easier. Academy Award winner and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant was honored in the awards ceremony's "In Memoriam" montage. Even though Bryant's passing took place two weeks ago, it still barely feels real, but this inspirational quote hung above the stage that might've dominated the second act of the Laker legend's life made us quite emotional.
“Life is too short to get bogged down and be discouraged. You have to keep moving. You have to keep going.” — Kobe Bryant.

Of course, there was no one less likely to get "bogged down and discouraged" in key moments than Bryant. When the lights were brightest, he shined more than ever.
In the 2009-2010 season, Kobe hit seven game-winners.

The Lakers secured the first seed and went on to win their second straight title. The difference in wins between first and eighth seed that regular season? Seven. ♾ pic.twitter.com/CDfkwg5rW1
On a night overstuffed with stars, it was once again clear that no one dominated the city over the decade quite like No. 24. His influence was felt once again during this ultimate celebration, ideally inspiring another generation of creators in the process.
