Kyle Shanahan Speculates Tevin Coleman Could Play in Super Bowl Despite Dislocated Shoulder
By Jerry Trotta
The hearts of San Francisco 49ers fans came to an abrupt halt when they witnessed standout tailback Tevin Coleman carted off the field with a shoulder injury early in the second quarter of the NFC Championship Game.
Of course, Raheem Mostert restored the faith by totaling 220 yards and four touchdowns on a whopping 29 carries.
While that sort of performance absolutely warrants Mostert getting more run, he may actually end up splitting snaps with Coleman once again. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is fairly optimistic that Coleman, despite suffering a separated shoulder, could get well in time for Super Bowl LIV.
It goes without saying that this is a stunning update regarding the Indiana product. Let's not forget that Coleman was in so much pain that, after a valiant effort, he couldn't even walk off the field on Sunday.
To think that he has a shot to suit up and take hits in two week's time is astonishing.
We'll provide more updates concerning Coleman's rehab as they are made available. As things stand, he has a chance at being in San Fran's backfield on Feb.2.
