Kyle Van Noy Calls Out Tony Romo for Questionable Comment During Patriots-Eagles Broadcast
By Chris Russo
When a team is 9-1, its players have the right to push back against most criticisms. Of course, there's a line between standing up for oneself and being perhaps a bit too sensitive.
New England linebacker Kyle Van Noy took time to needle CBS analyst Tony Romo for a rather dismissive comment he made about the Patriot defense Sunday in their 17-10 win over the Eagles.
Van Noy called out Romo for suggesting that the defending champs have been spectacular on D despite having a lot of "no-name" players. Understandably, that didn't sit too well with him.
Van Noy is obviously right to stand up for his teammates, as they're currently allowing fewer than 250 yards per game to go along with 10.8 points allowed per contest, both NFL bests.
Plus, it's fair to argue Tom Brady and the offense have not looked spectacular this year. TB12 is on pace to throw for fewer than 25 touchdowns, and New England's top two running backs both average below 3.5 yards per carry. The defense has carried this team in a big way, so Van Noy makes a fair point.
At this point, "no-name" may as well be a point of pride in Foxborough. And if the Pats can squeeze any extra motivation out of the perceived slight, the rest of the league is in trouble.
