Kyrie Irving Joining Lakers Would Make Them Best Team in NBA
By Jerry Trotta
The previously hyped up 2019 NBA free agency got off to a roaring start on Saturday when Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Los Angeles Lakers acquired superstar Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and three first-round draft picks.
Though the blockbuster deal leaves LA with a roster that lacks depth, they are one star point guard acquisition away from becoming the best team in the NBA. And no, his name is not Kemba Walker.
It's Kyrie Irving -- a man determined to redeem himself after an adverse campaign with the Boston Celtics, who just so happens to jive on the court with a man by the name of LeBron James.
We all know what The King and The Brow will provide. But, Irving would bring a dynamic for La La Land that Kemba never could -- playoff experience.
Yes, Kyrie's showing in the 2019 postseason was forgettable, but we all know that he is better suited as a second (or in this case, third) option. Don't be quick to forget how immense he was in the Cavaliers 3-1 comeback against the Warriors in 2015.
Though Irving once claimed he no longer wanted to play alongside LeBron in Cleveland, the two All-Stars appeared to have repaired any damage that once hindered their relationship when Kyrie revealed that he called James back in January to apologize for his immature antics.
Therefore, general manager Rob Pelinka must do everything in his power to prevent Kyrie from signing with the Nets or the Knicks. Having No. 0 repping purple and gold would propel to the Lakers from a Western Conference contender to NBA Champion favorite.
