Kyrie Irving Basically Throws Half of Nets Team Under the Bus in Questionable Comment After Loss to 76ers
By Mark Powell
Kyrie Irving lacks the basic communication skills to deal with the media on a daily basis, and that's not necessarily a shot at him.
For a man so in tune with his emotions, being forced to talk about the ins and outs of a basketball game he likely feels he's always in complete control of (minus the final result) must feel minute. Yet, considering he's in his first season on a new team, Irving should choose his words carefully.
Uncle Drew did the exact opposite on Wednesday night after Brooklyn lost to Philadelphia.
That's not how Irving should be describing his teammates. He is not GM, and even if he had that power like the LeBron James' of the Association, he ought to be more discrete. The typical NBA roster is composed of 12 active players, and a max of 17 total. Irving listed six here, one of whom is injured for the season.
All those dudes are putting in their best effort to make this Nets roster, as currently constructed, a playoff team. Putting them down after losing to a better squad in Philadelphia won't help matters.
Plus-minus is an overrated in the modern NBA, but Irving was a whopping -28 on Wednesday night. Point-blank, these Nets aren't Sean Marks' final vision. Irving needs to give him time, and Durant time to heal, before he begins pointing fingers.
