La'el Collins Contract Extension Opens up Cap Room for Ezekiel Elliott Deal

It's been a busy summer thus far for the Dallas Cowboys, but fans are still waiting miserably to find out whether or not Ezekiel Elliott will suit up with them to open Week 1.
With contract extension talks still going through a roller coaster ride, his status to face the Giants is up in the air. However, it looks like Jerry Jones has pulled off another deal to help Dallas pay their generational talent.
La’el Collins’ five-year extension actually created $5.7 million in cap space for the Cowboys this season, per source.

Wonder where that cap space might go....
As you can see, Dallas was able to create $5.7 million more in cap space with the extension they gave stud offensive lineman La'el Collins.
It goes without saying, but that most certainly gives the Cowboys some more wiggle room to pay Zeke the high amount of money he wants. Per multiple reports, Dallas offered him a deal this summer that would have made him the second-highest paid RB in the league behind Todd Gurley, but Elliott wants No. 1 running back dough.

Things could be moving in the right direction for No. 21 and the Cowboys. With the season-opener only being five days away, we'll have to wait and see if the two sides can finally agree to a deal.
