3 Rams Veterans Who Could Be Cut After the NFL Draft

The Los Angeles Rams' master plan of a star-heavy team that dominates the NFC has started to fall apart after the regression of Jared Goff, with the likes of Todd Gurley and Brandin Cooks already jettisoned to avoid plunging the team into salary cap hell. Ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft, in which LA is expected to beef up their offensive line and add some more talent on defense, these three veterans shouldn't expect a guaranteed roster spot next season.

3. LB Samson Ebukam

It seems odd to cut someone that set new career bests in 2019, as the former Eastern Washington star Ebukam did with his 48 tackles and 4.5 sacks, but the Rams could eventually look up to snag someone more fit for a 3-4 scheme than he is. In the last year of a rookie deal that allows the Rams to cut him without a big financial hangover, Ebukam could be one more member of the Wade Phillips era that Sean McVay discards in search of an upgrade.

2. CB Troy Hill

Jalen Ramsey is the highest-paid Rams defensive back, but Hill is surprisingly No. 2. General manager Les Snead should be motivated to find a better corner than Hill to play alongside Ramsey, as Hill's play is as inconsistent as they come from game to game, and sometimes even fluctuates from play to play. If they unload Hill's contract and draft a replacement, a secondary led by Ramsey, John Johnson, and Taylor Rapp has the potential to solve LA's secondary woes at long last.

1. OT Rob Havenstein

The Rams are currently relying on Andrew Whitworth, who is in the process of applying for his AARP card, and Havenstein, who was beaten like a drum last year, as their tackles to protect Goff. In 2019, Havenstein committed eight penalties and allowed five sacks while still having three years and over $20 million left on his contract. After drafting Bobby Evans and David Edwards last year and potentially drafting another lineman this time around, the Rams might need to bite the bullet to get away from Havenstein's unsightly contract.
