Lakers and Clippers Reportedly Eyeing Darren Collison Amid Rumored NBA Return
By Michael Luciano
One of the Los Angeles teams could ring in the new year with a big new signing, as former starting Darren Collison might have his mind on a return to the NBA with either the Clippers or Lakers.
The 32-year-old retired after the 2018-19 season, but could be on the verge of a comeback, and the LA squads are ahead of the pack in the race for his signature.
Collison, a devout Jehovah's Witness, claims he retired from the NBA to focus on his faith, even though he could have secured a contract worth over $10 million per season if he signed with the right team.
Collison averaged 11.2 points and a career-high 6.0 assists per game during his 76 starts with the Indiana Pacers last year. He's averaged 10.0 points or more in all of his nine seasons, showing that he can be counted on for clutch bucket as a either shooter or slasher.
He wouldn't start on the Lakers or Clippers, but the UCLA alum and Rancho Cucamonga native would provide some excellent veteran depth.
